The Ukrainian company Ptashka Drones has released footage proving the successful use of fiber-optic-controlled FPV drones, capable of operating at distances of up to 50 km.

According to the company, tests conducted under real combat conditions resulted in precise strikes against various targets, including armored vehicles, light transport assets, and enemy combatants.

Combat trials began on November 19, 2025, and within just a few weeks had already produced the first operational results. In a post published in early December, Ptashka Drones confirmed attacks carried out using drones equipped with 50 km fiber-optic spools, marking a significant advance in the battlefield use of this type of technology.

Unlike conventional drones, the fiber-optic model uses digital cable-based communication, ensuring a stable signal, high-quality video transmission, and immunity to electronic warfare interference. This feature also makes detection by electronic intelligence systems more difficult, enhancing the effectiveness of the drones in long-range operations.
